This synthetic smoke and fire detection dataset shows early-stage fires and smoke in outdoor yards, car parks, industrial estates, depots and refuse sites, seen from real CCTV positions by day, at dusk and at night. About a sixth of the images are hard negatives: steam vents, exhaust vapour, ground fog, mist, dust, floodlights, streetlights, amber beacons and low sun reflections, so your model learns which glows and plumes are not fire. Fire boxes cover the flames, smoke boxes the visible plume, and every person is boxed too, in YOLO and COCO format, with a fixed 900 / 100 train-val split and a dataset card. Each image was checked automatically for object presence, CCTV realism and box placement, and the whole set was visually reviewed. The free sample is a separate download under the open licence shown on its Kaggle or Hugging Face page. **Which formats and models does it work with?** YOLO (.txt per image) and COCO (.json): the YOLO labels load directly in YOLOv5, YOLOv8 and YOLO11, and COCO works with most other detectors, such as RT-DETR and Faster R-CNN. In the full set, images are mostly 1672×941, the download is ≈668 MB (.zip), laid out as images/ + labels/ (train, val), annotations/.
