    This knife detection dataset addresses one of the hardest challenges in security AI: detecting small, partially occluded bladed weapons in CCTV footage. Knives are significantly harder to detect than firearms due to their small size, reflective surfaces, and easy concealment. This synthetic dataset provides over 1,200 high-resolution images rendered from realistic CCTV perspectives with accurate bounding boxes around both the person and the knife. Scenarios include kitchens, streets, corridors, and public areas. The dataset features varied hand grips, concealment poses, and lighting ranging from fluorescent indoor to low-light outdoor conditions. The open-source sample includes 114 annotated images for experimentation.

    Limitations & Recommended Validation

    This dataset is 100% synthetic. While it is designed to closely match real-world sensor and camera conditions, synthetic imagery can still differ from live footage in ways that affect model accuracy (a "domain gap"). Validate a trained model against real-world footage from your specific deployment environment before production use.
